cool thanks Arenet for this great news. Ive been thinking of getting Razah by buying the gems set but the 80k or so has delayed my decision.
To those who complain about this coming update and argue that we have to work for it, why Razah? He is just a hero as others like Koss, Dunkoro. If you say he is not needed so we dont need to get him, change the way heroes have been recruited so that you have to pay to recruit each hero! They are all not needed as I can breeze through most of the missions/quests with just hench.
I think if there are 2 versions of heroe for each profesison, all of us would be happy. For example, make 1 easily to get and the other one uber hard and expensive to get. So most casual players can enjoy a regular one while hardcore players can show off their elite one.

I haven't really been complaining about Razah's acquisition because I haven't cared until recently, but it sounds good. Thank you for this addition Anet.

Honestly I have mixed feelings:
1) Glad it's now free... wish it was that way to begin with.
2) I payed 800k for 8 characters to get Razah because I <3 ritualists... The current re-sale value of those gems now equates to about 70k a set... meaning I lost 30k on each set... meaning I lost about 240 platinum because I would not have bought the sets otherwise...
Not necessarily 'complaining' just felt I should state why I have mixed feelings about this, hope you understand.
Hope Anet understands that this in no way 'rectifies' the problem, it merely appeases those who have yet to 'lose' out during this.
GJ either way Anet. I support your decision.

Except Koss and Dunkoro are required for some missions, Razah is not.

They made 2 versions of the 6 primary professions and 1 version of the 4 campaign specific professions, I think it was a good idea.
It is a good thing to work for something, you should not simply be handed everything you want. I have no problem with them adding this, as I have said. I even think they handled it well by creating the other quest. I have a problem with people whining about it being too hard.

great news, purposefully held back on getting razah cos it was much more profitable to sell the gemsets seeing as their price falls every week.

I am in the minority here. I worked hard to get the money for the 4 gems. I went with heros and henchies to get him. I died a few times, re-did my build, and tried again. When I finally got him I was so happy. Now this accomplishment was for nothing? I get my gems back(which are worth a % of what I paid for them now). And I no longer have something that is special.
It's like if you had a very nice weapon, perfect. Then anet does a special drop weekend and all that drops is the same weapon you have. Your weapon suddenly looses its value, it's no longer "cool, or nice" because everyone and their mother has it now. I was happy when anet made it to where hero's can get rid of their pets. (Thank god, I was getting tired of 4 flamingos running wild on the battlefield). But this one I am not for. I don't like it one bit.
There are very few things left to do in this game but grind for titles. Hard or very hard side quests are what keep me going. One less hard side quest to do now, for the reward is worth nothing. When you work hard for something you value the reward that much more. When you are given something for almost nothing, it looses all of its value and just becomes a thing.
And the reward for killing mallyx is 30,000xp and 4 gems. So you had a choice. Coffer of Whispers or your Rit hero. I really wish Anet would actually make us work for things in game, instead of giving into posts where people cry about not having the "1337" items that everyone else has.

Just to refresh my memory, to get Razah back than. You need to pay the gems and do all those quests to get him right?

If you think getting 10 of each gemstone to get the only ritualist hero was a reasonable requirement for casual players, you're seriously delusional.
In other news - Yay!

Oh, yeah. There's certainly no effort involved in completing Nightfall and then doing the quest to get Razah, even without the gemstones. It's just like having a Razah-dispenser right outside Kamadan and in every guild hall.

Everyone who bought the game will end up beating in sooner or later. And if a shitty player such as myself can solo the Razah quest, I am sure anyone else can. It took me 45minutes once I got the right party make up down.

It was 1 of each gemstone to get razah, 15 of each to get an Armbrace of Truth.

It's still a matter of time invested to reach that point. It's less money and/or time to get Razah with the change, but it's not completely gone as the poster I responded to suggested. The gemstones served mainly as a barrier to getting Razah, not so much an additional challenge.
